BLOOMINGTON – Fashion from thrift stores, cooking with organically grown food and protecting the Mahomet Aquifer will be featured in presentations by about 100 exhibitors at the annual Illinois Sustainable Living and Wellness Expo at Illinois Wesleyan University.
The event, sponsored by IWU and the Ecology Action Center, will be April 12 at the school’s Shirk Center for Athletics and Recreation.
One presentation will focus on protecting the Mahomet Aquifer, a water source that underlies parts of McLean, DeWitt and Champaign counties.
Participants in the Renewable Fashion Challenge imitate high fashion using thrift-store purchases.
Special-guest chefs will conduct cooking demonstrations with an organic “farm to fork” theme.
Recycling will be available for a variety of household items.
Activities and information for children and college students are planned.
