ALGONQUIN – The village's third annual student art exhibit begins on Tuesday at the Algonquin Area Public Library at 2600 Harnish Drive, according to a news release.

Local middle school students from Algonquin Middle School, St. John's Lutheran School, St. Margaret Mary Catholic School, and Westfield Community School, will have 60 pieces of art on display.

A reception is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the library. Light refreshments will be served.

Members of the Algonquin Public Arts Commission will recognize students in attendance and hand out best in show awards to winners from each school, the news release said.

The student with the top overall artwork in design and execution will receive the inaugural Richard A. Rehwaldt Memorial Award in honor of the late public arts commission member who helped develop the first student art exhibit in 2012, according to the news release.

The art exhibit is scheduled to run Tuesday through April. 14.
