Missed the health care deadline? It's not too late

WASHINGTON — It's not too late to get covered. A few routes remain open for those who missed the health care law's enrollment deadline Monday.

Millions may be eligible for a second chance to sign up for subsidized insurance. The government says people who started their online applications before the deadline still can log on and finish them. Those who started applying by paper have until next Monday to finish.

There's also extended enrollment for people stymied by all sorts of problems, including insurance company mix-ups, mistakes by application counselors, serious illness, even natural disasters.

There's no time limit for signing up in state Medicaid programs for the poor. And buying coverage outside the government marketplaces remains an option for the uninsured, but without subsidies to reduce the cost.
