Don’t meddle with milk

Published: Thursday, April 3, 2014 5:30 a.m. CDT

To the Editor:

The shear ignorance of this matter astounds me.

The effort to ban raw (unpasteurized) milk is an egregious attempt to further tear at the fabric of American liberties. No unemployment extension has been reached and the NSA knows too much, yet unpasteurized milk has taken precedence in the eyes of our leaders.

These past 12-plus years have been surrounded by fear perpetrated by fear mongers in an attempt to separate us from our unalienable rights. The phrase “the government should fear its people” was written by men who grew tired of tyrants, tired of inequality and acted to ensure no future American would have to endure such oppression.

Genetically modified foods containing toxins, poisons and other substitutes linked to cancer and infertility are created, patented and shipped by corporations. Yet no efforts are made to ban these substances. I demand my right to choose be restored. Let’s stop the corporations that own this country from putting profits before people’s health. Demand to know what is in your food, stand up for your rights and be vocal.

Thomas Jefferson wrote, “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” Words written by a patriot who foresaw the issues time of peace and growing governmental control would bring.

If you feel my words are excessive or that I am simply being melodramatic, understand that our politicians are not banning milk but your right to chose it.
