Egekeze honored on News-Gazette's All-State team

Huntley senior Amanze Egekeze was honored by the Champaign News-Gazette as an All-State Special Mention 50 player on Saturday.

Egekeze, the Northwest Herald Player of the Year, led the Red Raiders to their fourth consecutive Fox Valley Conference Valley Division title and third Class 4A regional championship in four years.

The News-Gazette selects 15 players each to its first and second teams, then picks the next 50 as special mention.

Other area players named to the Honorable Mention 100 were Cary-Grove’s Jason Gregoire, Richmond-Burton’s Sam Kaufman, Jacobs’ Chrishawn Orange and Marian Central’s Adam Pischke. Gregoire, Kaufman and Orange are juniors, Pischke is a sophomore.
