Marengo man charged with more than 10 sex assault felonies

Michael Zemon, 33, of Marengo, was charged with three counts of Class X felony aggravated criminal sexual assault, three counts of Class 1 felony criminal sexual assault, six counts of Class 2 aggravated criminal sexual abuse and a lesser Class 3 and Class 4 felony.

WOODSTOCK – A Marengo man is being held on a $250,000 bond after being charged with multiple counts of felony sexual assault against a child.

Michael Zemon, 33, of Marengo, was charged with three counts of Class X felony aggravated criminal sexual assault, three counts of Class 1 felony criminal sexual assault, six counts of Class 2 aggravated criminal sexual abuse and a lesser Class 3 and Class 4 felony.

Each Class X felony charge carries up to 30 years in prison.

According to a McHenry County Sheriff's Office news release, Zemon is believed to have started the assaults in September 2013 and it continued through February of this year. The release stated Zemon used a weapon during the offenses. The victim is older than 12, according to the release.

A search warrant was executed at Zemon's home before members of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Bureau and Apprehension Unit arrested him without incident on Friday.

Zemon's next court date is April 16. More charges could be added.
