Algonquin leaf and branch collection begins April 14

ALGONQUIN – Waste Management will provide free collection of leaves and branches from April 14 through May 9, the village said in a news release.

Leaves cannot be mixed with other yard waste and must be placed in a standard paper yardwaste bags or reusable containers that are clearly marked with a red “X”. Residents should place the bags or cans at the curb on their regular collection day, according to the news release.

Leaves and branches placed in loose piles will not be collected, the village said.

Glass clippings and other yardwaste will require a collection sticker. Any bags or cans that contain leaves mixed with other yardwaste will require a collection sticker.

Branches must be tied in bundles, which are no longer than 4 feet and no heavier than 50 pounds. Each branch shall not exceed 2 inches in diameter, with the total diameter of the bundle not to exceed 18 inches, the news release said.
