JOHNSBURG – Work on the second half of the Johnsburg Road project is set to start later this month.

Daily lane closures will start on Tuesday, April 22, and starting about a week later, eastbound Johnsburg Road and southbound Chapel Hill Road traffic will be detoured between Spring Grove Road and Fairview Avenue.

Like the detour set up last year, the construction zone will be limited to one direction traffic.

The project includes the installation of a roundabout at the intersection of Johnsburg Road, St. Johns Avenue and Chapel Hill Road. Sidewalks, decorative roadway lighting, park benches and trash bins will also be installed on both sides of Johnsburg Road.

The work is a continuation of last summer's widening of Johnsburg Road from Route 31 to just west of the St. Johns Avenue and Chapel Hill Road intersection to three lanes with one lane in each direction and a center lane for turning.

Ahead of the start date, an information meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2014 at the McHenry Township Hall, 3703 N. Richmond Road.

The meeting will provide an overview of the construction project including construction limits, proposed work, anticipated start dates, anticipated detour dates and completion dates, said Todd Destree, a senior construction project manager with engineering firm HR Green.
