Lenzini: Spring is here, time to clean up and de-clutter

Published: Tuesday, April 15, 2014 5:30 a.m. CDT

As we all can finally cheer on the arrival of spring, it also is a great time for de-cluttering and cleaning up our businesses and personal environments.

A disorganized workspace doesn’t just make it harder for you to find that pen or notebook, it also makes it more difficult to find the ideas and thoughts to accomplish many tasks.

A cluttered environment distracts your focus, creativity and motivation. Clean it up to ensure your workspace is conducive to inspiration and productivity.

De-clutter your desk, your office, your patio – wherever you do your best work. Put away things that distract you and don’t really need to be staring at you every day.

It also is a great time to clear your inbox by deleting and unsubscribing from unwanted items while also taking time to de-clutter your phone by deleting apps you don’t need.

All these steps lead to a cleaner working environment – one that lets you focus better, be more creative this spring and get more work done.

The Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce always has been a huge supporter of this idea through our annual Community Cleanup Day, which is from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at McCormick Park.

The chamber, Crystal Lake Park District, Advocate Good Shepherd and the Northwest Herald are this year’s co-sponsors as well as 27 “business sponsors” who have graciously underwritten this event.

Volunteers meet in the morning at the chamber (427 W. Virginia St.), enjoy a quick breakfast and then are dispatched throughout Crystal Lake to clean up from the spring thaw. After bringing the trash back to the chamber for disposal and recycling, volunteers are then treated to lunch. For information, call Sue Bechtold, chamber liaison, at 815-459-1300, ext.10.
