SPRING GROVE – After holding its developer fees level last year, the Spring Grove Village Board returned to increasing its fees by the rate of inflation.

The ordinance, which is reviewed on an annual basis, passed by a 5-0 vote with one trustee absent.

It includes increases to the village's impact fees and municipal donations – fees charged to developers to cover the cost of new residents using the area's parks and school – by the rate of inflation, which was 1.7 percent.

The board typically raises these fees by the rate of inflation but last year decided to keep them flat in an effort to promote building activity, Village President Mark Eisenberg said.

The village also held meetings last year with area developers to brainstorm ways the village could encourage growth.

"We feel that whether it get increased or not, it's not going to affect the building in Spring Grove," Eisenberg said.
