17-year-old expected to be charged after crashing into Huntley townhouses
HUNTLEY – A 17-year-old male driver was taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin with minor injuries after the SUV he was driving crashed into two townhouses, the Huntley Fire Protection District said.
The fire district was called about 4:45 p.m. Monday to 10926 Cape Cod Lane after the driver, whose name was not released, crashed into the garages of the two townhouses, said Battalion Chief Russ Wilson.
Huntley Dept. Police Chief Mike Klunk said the cause of the accident is under investigation, and charges against the driver are likely to be filed Tuesday afternoon.
One of the townhouses remains uninhabitable due to structural damage, Klunk said. No residents were home at the time of the accident.
The gas line for one of the townhouses was struck and had to be shut down, but it was later turned back on by Nicor.
