St. Louis Blues right wing T.J. Oshie (74) tries to get up with help from a trainer but can't after being injured during the second period of an NHL hockey game against the Minnesota Wild in St. Paul, Minn., Thursday, April 10, 2014.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — T.J. Oshie and Brenden Morrow participated in the St. Louis Blues' optional skate, a positive step for a franchise hit hard by injuries during a late slide in the regular season.

Three other regulars weren't ready on Tuesday — captain David Backes and forwards Patrik Berglund and Vladimir Sobotka.

Coach Ken Hitchcock says the true test for any of them will come in a full-go practice on Wednesday, a day ahead of their playoff opener against the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks. But he says what he's seen so far keeps him confident they'll be at full strength at some point during the series.

The Blackhawks got their two biggest stars, forwards Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews, back on the ice Monday.
