FOX RIVER GROVE – Beginning on Monday, the Fox River Grove water department is scheduled to flush fire hydrants throughout town.

Flushing helps ensure all hydrants are in good working order and also improves water quality, according to a news release.

There may be some water discoloration and pressure fluctuation at the time of flushing and for a short period afterward. If water is discolored, residents are advised to run the cold water until it clears, usually only a few minutes, the village said. Residents may wish to avoid doing laundry during the hydrant flushing process.

“Hydrant Flushing” signs are set to be placed in neighborhoods during the process.
