Missing Easter in egg hunt

To the Editor:

I recently drove in Crystal Lake on Dole Avenue and saw a sign attached to the fence put up by the Crystal Lake Park District advertising an “Egg Hunt” at Lippold Park.

Is anyone else as outraged as I am that we apparently cannot now say “Easter Egg Hunt”?

I went on an “egg hunt” last weekend in my refrigerator when I wanted to make an omelet. That’s an “egg hunt.” Why are we taking Easter out of this decades-old event to acquiesce to a small minority of atheists and others who are not Christians.

I venture to say (my guess only) that the vast majority of Crystal Lake residents and, perhaps, the majority of the entire U.S. population are Christians.

I would like to know who made the decision to take Easter out of the Easter egg hunt.

We can’t say “under God” in the Pledge Of Allegiance. We can’t have prayers in schools, and next December, we’ll take our kids and grandkids to watch them light a tree – not a Christmas tree.

When will this nonsense stop?
