Environmental Defenders offer scholarship

WOODSTOCK – The Environmental Defenders of McHenry County is offering an Entering College scholarship of $1,000 to an outstanding high school senior planning to pursue a career directly related to environmental studies.

To be eligible, the applicant must reside in and attend high school in McHenry County, have a respectable GPA, two letters of recommendation, plan to attend an accredited college or university, and complete an application, which is available online at http://www.mcdef.org/Community_scholarship.htm and at the EDMC office.  

The application and accompanying documents are due in the EDMC office no later than Friday.  

The Environmental Defenders of McHenry County is a nonprofit member organization celebrating its 44th year of dedication to the preservation and protection of the environment, and education of the public, and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

The group provides community residents with educational programs and volunteer action on pollution prevention, sustainable land use and energy and natural resource conservation. Donations are encouraged and are tax-deductible as charitable contributions.
