Girls prep roundup: R-B finishes second at its own tournament

At Richmond, the Rockets (8-2) took second as they hosted their 11th annual tournament. R-B lost its opening match to Wauconda, 2-1. In its second match, the Rockets beat Round Lake 4-0. Rachel Barrett had two assists in Game 2 in a game in which R-B scored three first half goals. Hannah Koenig was goalkeeper for both games.

St. Charles North 1, Huntley 0: At Schaumburg, the Red Raiders (9-4) allowed a goal with three minutes remaining to fall to St. Charles North a the PepsiCo Showdown tournament game. Huntley's Jessica Galason made two saves.

Dundee-Crown 3, Lake Park 3: At the Lake Park Invite in Roselle, Alyssa Moreno scored two first half goals to lead the Chargers (2-3-2) in the tie. Franki Scarpelli added a goal and Ashley Raby and Alexis Lewis each had an assist. Isabel Miranda made six saves. 

Woodstock 7, Rockford Guilford 0: At Johnsburg, Emma Thill a goal and four assists for the Blue Streaks in the win at the Lady Hawk Invite. Anna Lopatin had a goal and an assist for Woodstock (7-3).


Lake Zurich 3, Prairie Ridge 2 (10 INN): At Crystal Lake, Maddie Drain and Michelle O'Keefe had two hits and drove in a run each in the extra innings loss for the Wolves (7-2-1).

Fremd 12-8, Cary-Grove 2-4: At Cary, the Torjans lost both games of a nonconference doubleheader. In game 1, Grace Pilz had a double, and Sarah Purpura and Brianne Prank drove in runs for the Trojans. In game 2, Sarah Kendeigh hit a three-run home run in the loss (6-5).

South Elgin 8-12, Huntley 4-14: At Huntley, the Red Raiders split a doubleheader with South Elgin. In game 1, the Red Raiders fell, 8-4. Brittany Koss was 4 for 4 with two runs batted in and Jessica Shields had a double and also drove in two runs. In game 2, Huntley won 14-12. Megan Larson went 3 for 4 with a hime run and double, driving in four runs for Huntley (6-6).

Marengo 10, Warren 2: At Gurnee, Marengo used an eight-run fourth inning to beat Warren. Mariah Dionne got the win for the Indians, striking out ten in a complete game. Gabbi Markison was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double for Marengo.

Schaumburg 8-6, Jacobs 0-5: At Algonquin, the Golden were swept in the nonconference doubleheader. Teighan Richman took the loss for Jacobs in game 2, but had two hits at the plate. 

St. Edward's Tournament: At Elgin, the Whip-Purs won their first two games of the tournament and fell short to St. Edward's in the championship. Hampshire (9-7) beat Iliana Christian and Genoa-Kingston by a combined 27-13, but lost the championship 8-5 . Peyton DeChant had seven hits and drove in ten runs on the day for Hampshire.

Marian Central 6, Chicago Christian 1: At Woodstock, the Hurricanes (8-6, 4-1) won in Suburban Christian Conference play. Grace Shukis (4-0) pitched seven innings, giving up just five hits and one run. Jackie Chmiel was 2 for 3 with a triple and four RBIs. Mic Faunce added three runs, a double and an RBI. 


Geneva Invitational: At Geneva, Dundee-Crown finished fifth in the six-team invite with 50.50 points. Palatine won the meet with 188. Kayla Lawrence 100 hurdles (15.8) and Anette Woolf finished third in discus (85-4) for the Chargers.

Kaneland Invite: At Maple Park, the Huntley girls track and field team won with 317 points. Macy Tramblay won the triple jump (33-8.5), 100 meters hurdles (15.90) and the 300 hurdles (49.68).  The Red Raiders added a victory in the 4x400 relay with Tramblay, Alyssa Bushman, Tina Driscoll and Tess Miller.
