Bruce Rauner details some views on immigration

CHICAGO (AP) — Republican Illinois gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner says he supports a pathway to citizenship for immigrants living in the U.S. illegally, but didn't offer other specifics on immigration reform.

The Winnetka businessman has said it's too easy for people to immigrate illegally and legal immigration is important. He attended a Tuesday event with other top Republicans who support legislation that's stalled in Washington.

Rauner says he wants a "comprehensive approach" to overhauling immigration laws, but he hasn't studied the bill.

Gov. Pat Quinn's campaign alleged Tuesday that Rauner has an anti-immigration record and is "hiding" his true views. Quinn's campaign cites money they say Rauner donated to "anti-immigration causes."

Rauner dismissed the claims. He says he has donated to many politicians and he doesn't fully agree with any of them.
