McHENRY – A contest is being held to find a new logo for the expanded McHenry River Run.

The winner will receive a $50 Target gift card, a family pool pass to the Merkel Aquatic Center, one boat rental at Petersen Park Beach and five McHenry Parks and Recreation Department fitness passes.

The winning logo will be used in advertisements and on T-shirts for the race, which has been held during Fiesta Days for over 40 years. This year, 5K and 10K courses will be added.

The logo should be no larger than 10 inches wide by 8 inches tall and in black and white. The phrase “McHenry Parks & Recreation River Run 2014” is required in the logo.

The target audience for the event shirt is all ages, both male and female. The style and theme should include simple shapes and a design emphasizing running and the Fox River.

Contestants should avoid micro-fine details, small shapes and overly busy arrangements.

Entries should be sent to along with a name, address and phone number by May 2.
