Boys prep roundup: R-B baseball edges G-K

Joe Dittmar hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead the Richmond-Burton baseball team to a 3-2 win over Genoa Kingston in Big Northern Conference East Division play.

Mike Kaska (4-0) got the win for the Rockets, going seven innings and giving up five hits and two runs while striking out seven. Dittmar was 2 for 4 with the game-winning RBI.

Brett Sheahen was 2-for-3 for the Rockets with an RBI. 

Westminster Christian 5, Alden-Hebron 3: At Hebron, the Giants fell in NAC play. Matt Winter was 3 for 4 and Cody Nelson and John Judson each added a triple and an RBI. Andrew Tieman (1-1) took the loss, giving up four runs over five innings. 

Woodstock 10, Crystal Lake Central 1: At Crystal Lake, Zach Kammin had a double and three RBIs to lead the Blue Streaks to the FVC win. Woodstock scored nine runs in the fifth inning, breaking the 1-1 tie. Alex Ferguson got the win, giving up one run and seven hits over six innings. Austin Butts added a run and two RBIs.

Kyle Lavand was 2 for 3 with a run and Tanner Larkins added an RBI for the Tigers. 

Marmion 11, Marian Central 4: At Aurora, the Hurricanes (3-7, 2-6 SCC) lost in Suburban Christian Conference play. Kyle Albert went 2 for 3 with a double, and RBI and a run for Marian Central. 

McHenry 11, Woodstock North 1: At Woodstock, the Warriors (11-3, 5-1 FVC) won in FVC play. Mike Borst went 3 for 4 with three runs scored and an RBI and Payton Lykins was 3 for 4 with two runs scored. Bobby Miller gave up one run and one hit, while striking out 10 for the win. 

Tyler Adami had the Thunder's only hit. 

Dundee-Crown 4, Crystal Lake South 2: At Carpentersville, the Chargers won in Fox Valley Conference play. Sam Ray was 2 for 3 and Tyler Lewan and Brett Johnson each added an RBI. 

Michael Avella was 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI and AJ Howaniec added an RBI for the Gators. 

Johnsburg 3, Grayslake Central 1: At Johnsburg, Collin Ridout struck out eight and did not give up an earned up in six innings for the Skyhawks in an FVC Fox Division win. Also for Johnsburg (6-9, 3-4 FVC), Mike Pritts homered.

Prairie Ridge 4, Cary-Grove 1: At Crystal Lake, Daniel Burris pitched seven innings, giving up one run and striking out six to lead the Wolves to the FVC victory. Austin Covers had two RBIs and Christopher Slack added a triple and a run.

Andrew Splitt had an RBI and Jason Barrett had two hits for the Trojans. 

BOYS TENNIS

Crystal Lake Central 4, McHenry 3: At McHenry, Josh Pudlo won at No. 1 singles and Brad Graves won at No. 2 singles to lead the Tigers to the FVC crossover victory.

Nick Higgin and Jacob Maher won at No. 1 doubles, 6-4, 7-5, for the Warriors (1-6).

Huntley 7, Woodstock North 0: At Huntley, Michael Zornow won at No. 1 singles to lead the Red Raiders (5-3) to the FVC crossover sweep. Jake Grabner and Matt Frederick added a, 6-1, 6-0, victory at No. 1 doubles.

Jordan Plummer lost at No. 1 singles for the Thunder, 6-3, 6-1. 

Crystal Lake South 5, Grayslake North 2: At Crystal Lake, Nick Thome won at No. 1 singles, 7-5, 6-4, to lead the Gators (7-1) to the FVC crossover victory. Kyle Devlin and Joe Baietto added a, 6-2, 6-2, win at No. 1 doubles.

Dundee-Crown 5, Woodstock 2: At Woodstock, Colin Stiefer won at No. 1 singles for the Chargers in the FVC crossover game. Brad Spangenberg and Chad Wagner added a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles.

The Blue Streaks got a win from Chris Cross at No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-3. 

Cary-Grove 5, Hampshire 2: At Hampshire, the Trojans were led by Evan Jensen at No. 2 singles and Mitch Kedzior and Kyle Venet at No. doubles in the FVC crossover win.

Elisha Hougland won at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-3, and Jacob Dahlberg and Chad West added a victory at No. 1 doubles for the Whip-Purs.
