ALGONQUIN – A popular retail store for fishing, hiking, hunting and outdoor enthusiasts will soon be coming to Algonquin along Randall Road.

Executives from Gander Mountain announced in a news release Wednesday that they will soon construct a 52,000-square-foot store on a vacant lot at 1400 S. Randall Road, just north of the Walmart.

The outdoor specialty store operates at 127 locations in 24 states, including existing stores in Geneva, Joliet, Peoria, Rockford and Springfield.

"We're excited to welcome Gander Mountain," Village President John Schmitt said in the release. "Their decision to locate in our community reaffirms that Algonquin is a desirable place to do business."

The Algonquin store will feature a large selection of new and used firearms, along with fitness wear, gear, and accessories for hunting, fishing, camping, boating and archery.

Gander Mountain will continue to update consumers about a grand opening in Algonquin through its website, www.GanderMountain.com
