Dayton has been a force in goal for the Tigers all season. This week ,Crystal Lake Central went 3-0, all games in which Dayton was in goal. Dayton made 11 saves in a 2-1 victory over McHenry, and followed that up on Thursday with another 11 saves in a 3-2 victory against Prairie Ridge. On Tuesday, the Tigers went to Grayslake North and Dayton recorded her fourth shutout of the season, making nine saves for the Tigers (6-3, 1-0 FVC Fox) in the conference opener.

“I sure sleep so much better at night knowing I have Caitlyn in net,” Tigers coach Jay Schwarzrock said. “I get greedy sometimes and just assume she is going to stop everything. She is a phenomenal talent.”

Blue Streaks streaking: Woodstock is off to a hot start to its season under head coach Mike Golda. The Blue Streaks have won eight of their first 11 games to begin the season, including a 2-1 victory over Johnsburg in their conference opener. The Blue Streaks tied the game on a free kick with three, yes, three seconds remaining and then won in overtime. The Streaks also beat Rockford Guilford 7-0 on Saturday in a game in which Emma Thill scored a goal and added four assists for the Blue Streaks.

Dundee-Crown trying to push across winning goal: The Chargers (3-2-3) have tied three games this season, including both games this past week against Lake Park and Grayslake Central. Knowing a tie isn’t the worst result to take away from a game, D-C has stayed confident and believes the wins will come. Sophomore forward Ashley Raby has emerged as one of the leaders of this Chargers team that has just three seniors.

"Even though ties aren't exactly the results we want, I think communication and teamwork has been huge for us so far," senior captain Shannon Feld said. "We have strong leadership of the experience we do have and I think that helps us play better and stronger as a team."

Prairie Ridge taking positives away from tough losses: The Wolves have lost their past two games, but it sure hasn’t been because there was a lack of effort. The Wolves (5-5, 0-1 FVC Valley) lost Thursday to Crystal Lake Central 3-2 in a tough battle, and responded strongly Tuesday against Huntley. Prairie Ridge took one of the best teams in the area, scoreless through two overtime periods, falling just short in a shootout.

“We have competed in every game we have played,” Wolves coach JC Brown said. “Game in and game out, my girls have given everything they have and we can definitely take confidence away from games like these past two.”

This week’s top matches

Prairie Ridge at Cary-Grove

Thursday, 4:30 p.m.

The Wolves come off back-to-back tough losses, and the task doesn’t get any easier as they travel to Cary-Grove to take on the Trojans. Cary-Grove is also coming off of a tough loss to McHenry, so one of these two teams will record their first FVC Valley Division win of the season. Ali Fanning and the Wolves' defense will have their hands full with Emma Baker and Carli Petersen up front for the Trojans.

McHenry at Dundee-Crown

Tuesday, 4:30 p.m.

The Warriors head to Dundee-Crown to take on a Chargers team that is desperate to get back on the winning track. McHenry (6-2, 1-0 FVC Valley) beat Cary-Grove in their conference opener and comes in with a lot of confidence in this conference showdown with the Chargers (3-2-3, 0-0). D-C will look to shut down Alexis Morales and this tough, scrappy Warrior team.
