Lake in the Hills to swear in new police chief on Wednesday

LAKE IN THE HILLS – The village on Wednesday has scheduled a swearing-in ceremony for its new police chief.

David Brey, who has been with the police department since 1992, will replace Director of Police and Public Safety James Wales, who is retiring at the end of the month.

Brey became a sergeant in the department in 2001, took over as sergeant of investigations in 2003, and became deputy chief in 2006.

He is a graduate of Illinois State University as well as Northwestern University’s Police School of Staff and Command, and the National FBI Academy. 

The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for 3 p.m Wednesday at the the Lake in the Hills Police Safety Educational Center, adjacent to the police station at 1115 Crystal Lake Road.

A reception will follow until 4 p.m.
