Prescription drug collection planned in Wonder Lake

Published: Friday, April 25, 2014 9:09 a.m. CST

WONDER LAKE – Unwanted prescription medication can be dropped off during a Drug Enforcement Agency Drug Take-Back event Saturday.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Office will host the collection from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the east side of the Wonder Lake Fire Station, 4300 East Wonder Lake Road.

The event is designed to give people an opportunity to clean out their medicine cabinets, lessening the opportunity for theft of the drugs, a news release said. Research has shown a connection between the abuse of prescription medications and heroin abuse.

No liquids or needles will be collected at this event.
