Two farmers die in separate Illinois tractor accidents

NASHVILLE – A southern Illinois farmer died after he became pinned underneath an overturned tractor.

The Perry County sheriff’s office tells WSIL-TV that 81-year-old Arnold J. Bathon died Thursday evening after an accident near Pickneyville.

Bathon was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, visitation will be held Friday in Jerseyville for another farmer who died after he became pinned between two tractors in southwestern Illinois.

The Alton Telegraph reports 71-year-old Roger LeRoy Vahle died Monday on his property in Jersey County.

A funeral for the Kane man will be held Saturday.
