Conservancy offers bird tour Saturday

WOODSTOCK – Join The Land Conservancy of McHenry County for a guided bird hike at Yonder Prairie Nature Preserve Saturday, May 3rd at 8am.

Randy Schietzelt, TLC and Illinois Audubon Society board member, will lead participants through the 40 acre natural area that provides habitat for over 80 species of resident and migratory birds such as cranes, herons, warblers, woodpeckers, owls and vireos. 

The hike will be about one mile over level terrain. Dress for the weather and wear waterproof boots as there are likely to be wet areas due to recent rains. The nearest address is 1150 Rose Farm Road, Woodstock

From Woodstock, take Kishwaukee Valley Road west to Rose Farm Road and turn left. Proceed one-quarter mile and park along the side of the road to walk back to the site. Water and refreshments will be provided. The hike is free, but registration is required. TLC is a local nonprofit organization that works with individuals and communities to preserve and restore natural land in McHenry County for the benefit of current and future residents.
