RiverEdge Park’s summer lineup of concerts, events announced

AURORA – As part of his annual State of the City address Thursday, Aurora Mayor Thomas Weisner announced the 2014 summer lineup of concerts and events at RiverEdge Park, 360 N. Broadway, Aurora.

“We’ve raised the bar for the park’s sophomore season and look forward to welcoming thousands of people from across the Chicagoland area, who will discover all that RiverEdge Park and downtown Aurora have to offer,” Weisner said in a news release.

National acts performing at the outdoor concert venue are “American Idol” season 9 winner Lee DeWyze and 1980s alternative rock group 10,000 Maniacs on July 5; Sugar Ray, Blues Traveler and Uncle Kracker as part of the Under the Sun Tour on July 6; country music group Lady Antebellum on Aug. 7; and Jennifer Nettles of country music duo Sugarland on Aug. 29.

The 18th annual Blues on the Fox festival will be June 27 and 28, and will include headliners Jimmie Vaughan, Los Lonely Boys and Taj Mahal.

One more major concert will be announced at 10 a.m. June 22 with an immediate launch of ticket sales following its announcement, states a news release.

Other events include Aurora’s Downtown Alive! outdoor music series, which will return this summer with 1980s cover band Sixteen Candles on June 13 and Beatles tribute group American English on Aug. 1.

Outdoor screenings of cult classics will include a Sing-a-long “Grease” on June 20 and “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” on June 21.

Community festivals will include the Wisconsin Beer and Cheese Tour on May 31; the Sacred Heart Annual Festival and Concert on June 8; the ColorVibe 5K Race on June 15; Aurora’s Fourth of July Celebration on July 4; the Aurora Puerto Rican Heritage Festival on July 26 and 27; and the Fox Valley Irish Festival on Aug. 2.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. today for all performances – except Lady Antebellum, the Under the Sun Tour with Sugar Ray, Blues Traveler and Uncle Kracker, and Jennifer Nettles.

Tickets go on sale to the public for those concerts at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
