CRYSTAL LAKE - A Crystal Lake business was cited Tuesday for selling alcohol to a person under 21 after police conducted performance checks of area establishments.

The General Store, located at 1309 North Ave. in Crystal Lake, was the lone business found in violation during the Crystal Lake Police Department's Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement check, according to a news release. A total of 21 businesses were checked during the campaign.

The General Store clerk was given an adjudication citation for a violation of a city ordinance, which prohibits the sale of alcoholic beverages to persons under 21.

The case will continue to a hearing at the Crystal Lake City Hall on June 13.

Alcohol countermeasure enforcement checks are done randomly throughout the year, and police plan to continue more checks in the future, the release said.
