Harvard man in serious condition after motorcycle crash

HARVARD – A Harvard man is in serious condition after crashing into a ditch early Monday morning.

Jay W. York, 49, of Harvard, was involved in a single vehicle crash Monday when his 1993 Harley Davidson went into a ditch as he was traveling south near the 7600 block of Lawrence Road in an unincorporated area near Harvard, according to a McHenry County Sheriff's Office news release.

McHenry County Sheriff's officers and the Harvard Fire Protection District responded to the call at 1:41 a.m. Monday. Flight for Life was called and York was transported to Rockford Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

On Tuesday, the hospital said York was upgraded to serious condition.

He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
