WAUCONDA – A 26-year-old man is in good condition after he was shot in the chest during an argument, Police Chief Patrick Yost said.

The man, who is not being identified, was a guest on Sunday in an apartment at 105 S. Main St. when three men came in uninvited, Yost said.

Police were called about 8:30 p.m. after the argument became heated, and one of the three men shot the 26-year-old man in the chest, Yost said.

Yost said the 26-year-old man is in good condition as the bullet did not hit any critical organs.

“The Lord must have been looking out for him,” Yost said.

The victim is being sedated so he doesn’t aggravate his injuries, Yost said.

The offenders are still at large, and the victim’s location was not released.

Yost said the men were described as Hispanics in their early 20s and of average height.
