Boys Roundup: Dundee-Crown tops Prairie Ridge in 8 innings

Dundee-Crown's baseball team scored a run in the top of the eighth inning Monday to beat Prairie Ridge, 3-2, in Fox Valley Conference Valley Division play in Crystal Lake.

Riley Alvarado drove in two runs for D-C (11-10 overall, 8-3 FVC Valley) as Ahren Ludwig pitched all eight innings for the Chargers, striking out nine and allowing two runs. Dustin Thelander drove in a run for the Wolves (10-13, 6-6).

Huntley 7, Burlington Central 2: At Burlington, the Red Raiders scored six runs in the fifth inning to come back and beat Burlington Central in a nonconference game. Mark Skonieczny had two doubles and two RBIs for the Red Raiders (15-4-1). Mason Martin got the win for Huntley, striking out six over seven innings.

Round Lake 7, Alden-Hebron 3: At Hebron, Cody Nelson had a triple and a run scored for the Giants (9-11) in a nonconference loss.

Grayslake Central 20, Woodstock 7: At Woodstock, the Blue Streaks (4-11, 2-10) got three hits from Alex Ferguson, including a double and a triple, in an FVC Fox loss.

Grayslake North 9, Woodstock North 0: At Woodstock, Jamie Huntley had two hits for Woodstock North (3-13, 0-9) in an FVC Fox loss.

CL Central 7, Antioch 6: At Antioch. the Tigers (4-15) scored four runs in the top of the fifth inning en route to a nonconference win. Riley Popell was 3 for 4 with two doubles and three RBIs. Tyler Hofmann got the win for the Tigers, and Rob Aunan earned a two-inning save. 

TENNIS

McHenry 4, Hampshire 3: At Hampshire, McHenry got wins from Matt Panek (No. 2 singles) and the doubles pair of Branden Phillips and Brad Korstanje (No. 2) in an FVC crossover.

Elisha Hougland (No. 1) got a singles win for Hampshire.

Cary-Grove 5, Grayslake North 2: At Cary, the Trojans won an FVC crossover dual meet. Kevin Maas (No. 1 singles) and Devin McDonough (No. 3) got wins for C-G.

Huntley 5, Johnsburg 2: At Johnsburg, the Red Raiders (10-4) swept the double matches to win in FVC crossover play. Jake Grabner and Matt Frederick won at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0, for Huntley, and Nick Mihaiu added a win at No. 3 singles.

Joe Nikolai won at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0, for the Skyhawks, and Niko DeStephano added a victory at No. 2 singles. 

St. Viator 3, Marian Central 2: At Arlington Heights, Charles Shin won at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-2, in the Hurricanes' loss in nonconference play. Austin Lee and Robert Morehead added a win at No. 2 doubles for Marian Central. 

TRACK AND FIELD

CL South triangular: At Crystal Lake, the host-Gators (76 points) beat McHenry (69.67) and Woodstock North (38.33). South's Thomas Melone won the 3,200 meters (10:09.4). McHenry took first place in the long jump, triple jump, high jump and pole vault. Woodstock North got a win from its 4x200 relay (1:37.6).

Grayslake North 104, Johnsburg 50: At Grayslake, Ben Stillwell won the shot put (41-4) and discus (140-6) for Johnsburg in the team loss. Sam Blankenship won the 110 hurdles (15.34) and the 400 (51.56) for the Skyhawks.
