Brittany Koss had two hits for Huntley, including the game-winning single in the bottom of the seventh inning, to give the Red Raiders a 3-2 win over Prairie Ridge in the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division softball game Monday at Huntley.
Megan Larson added a home run for Huntley (13-7 overall, 4-2 FVC Valley).
Claire Bowman had two hits for Prairie Ridge (12-6, 4-2).
CL South 6, Jacobs 5: At Crystal Lake, the Gators (9-9, 2-4 FVC Valley) scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to knock off Jacobs in an FVC Valley game. Sam McLean had three hits, two runs scored, and an RBI for South.
Emily Borg homered for Jacobs (12-8, 2-5).
Hampshire 9, Woodstock North 1: At Hampshire, the Whip-Purs scored five runs in the sixth inning to power past Woodstock North in an FVC Fox Division matchup. Sara Finn had three hits and scored three runs for Hampshire (15-9, 6-0 FVC Fox).
Grayslake North 2, CL Central 1: At Crystal Lake, the Tigers lost to Grayslake North in an FVC Fox game. Megan Mahaffy struck out 10 for Central (10-7, 4-2 FVC Fox).
Marengo 15, Harvard 0 (5 inn.): At Harvard, Gabbi Markison hit two home runs, and Abby Kissack and Recebba Schultz added one each for Marengo (13-6, 6-0) in a Big Northern Conference East Division game. Sam McCloud had the only hit for Harvard (7-11, 2-4).
Marian Central 28, Aurora Christian 0 (5 inn.): At Woodstock, the Hurricanes (13-10, 7-4) scored 21 runs in the first inning en route to the Suburban Christian Conference win. Meredith Bryan (2-1) picked up the win, pitching five shutout innings and striking out 10. Bryan was 4 for 5 at the plate with seven RBIs and two runs scored. Emily Miller was 3 for 3 with a triple, four runs scored and four RBIs, and Mic Faunce added two doubles and four RBIs.
Alden-Hebron 11, Faith Christian 0 (5 inn.): At Coleman (Wis.), the Giants (9-9) won in nonconference play. Kasandra Clauss (7-9) got the win for A-H, pitching three innings and striking out seven. Clauss was 1 for 2 with a double and two runs scored, and Sharren Johnson added a run and two RBIs.
CL South 0, CL Central 0: At Crystal Lake, the Gators (11-2-3) and Tigers (7-4-1) played a scoreless match in FVC crossover action.
Hampshire 0, Belvidere North 0: At Hampshire, Kaila Kienzler made 12 saves in the draw for Hampshire (3-9-1).
Huntley 8, Woodstock North 0: At Huntley, the Red Raiders (11-5) scored four goals in the first five minutes and eight before halftime in an FVC crossover win. Jessica Helm scored four goals and had an assist, and Taryn Jakubowski added two goals and an assist. Beth Parks and Alyssa Kaufman each added a goal.
Shanen Laabs made 21 saves for the Thunder (0-16).
TRACK AND FIELD
Woodstock North triangular: At Woodstock, Woodstock (91 points) beat out Prairie Ridge (49) and host Woodstock North (32). Woodstock got first-place finishes from Amber Roberts in the shot put (28 feet, 8 inches) and Brianna Verbeeck in the 100 meters (12.85 seoncds). Prairie Ridge’s Ashley Duda won the 800 (2:38), and Woodstock North’s Sam Abbate won the high jump (4-6).
CL Central triangular: At Crystal Lake, the host Tigers (87.5 points) beat Dundee-Crown (54) and Grayslake North (31.5). Crystal Lake Central got wins from its 4x100 relay (52.1) and 4x800 relay (10:55.6). D-C's Kayla Lawrence won the 100 hurdles (15.6) and 300 hurdles (52.7).
