McHENRY – A McHenry man was charged with possession and intent to deliver heroin after police tracked him transporting the drug from Chicago to McHenry County.

Russell S. Levand, 30, of McHenry, was charged with heroin possession, possession with intent to deliver heroin and resisting arrest, the McHenry County Sheriff's office announced Tuesday.

Police contacted Levand on Monday after conducting surveillance on him and discovered that he had 12 heroin capsules and several hypodermic syringes in his possession.

Levand is being held on $80,000 bond at the McHenry County Jail. He is due in court Thursday.
