Boys Prep Roundup: Prairie Ridge baseball beats Jacobs

The Prairie Ridge baseball team scored seven runs in the top of the ninth inning to beat Jacobs, 9-2, in Fox Valley Conference play in Algonquin. 

The Wolves were led by Marcus Sargeant, Jack Myers and Dustin Thelander, who all had two RBIs. Ben Cilano got the win after pitching eight innings, allowing one earned run, three hits and striking out four. 

Sargeant started the ninth-inning scoring with an RBI single. Myers and Thelander each added two-run singles later in the inning.

Jacobs was held to three hits in the game, all by Ben Murray. Grant Kale added an RBI for the Golden Eagles. 

Johnsburg 3, Grayslake North 1: At Johnsburg, the Skyhawks (10-10, 7-5 FVC) won in FVC play. Collin Ridout got the win, pitching seven innings, allowing one earned run, two hits and striking out nine. Kevin Kordik was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a double and Ridout added two runs scored and an RBI. 

Genoa-Kingston 5, Marengo 1: At Marengo, the Indians (6-9, 3-5 BNC East) lost in BNC East Division play. Erik Kuczewski was 2 for 3 and Kyle Alt added a double for Marengo. 

Alden-Hebron 7, IMSA 0: At Hebron, the Giants (10-11, 4-5 NAC) won in NAC play. Alec O'Halleran (3-2) got the win pitching five shutout innings, allowing one hit and striking out six. O'Halleran was also 2 for 3 at the plate with an RBI and Marshall Glenn added an RBI. 

St. Francis 9, Marian Central 0: At Wheaton, the Hurricanes were shut out in SCC Blue Division play. Cole Bokowy and Pat McCabe each had a double for Marian Central. 

Huntley 12, McHenry 5: At McHenry, Troy Cantu was 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs to lead the Red Raiders (16-4-1, 9-2 FVC) to the FVC win. Adam Kalish (3-0) got the win pitching six innings, allowing just one earned run, two hits. Mark Skonieczny was 3 for 3 with an RBI and a double.

Cody Freund was 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs and Jack Glosson added two hits and a run for the Warriors. 

Crystal Lake South 3, Grayslake Central 1: At Crystal Lake, Ryan Wilkening (2-1) pitched seven innings, allowing just one run and five hits to earn the Gators (9-9, 6-6) the FVC win. Casey Oliver was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI and Paul Wille added a run and an RBI. 

Cary-Grove 6, Dundee-Crown 2: At Carpentersville, the Trojans scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning to take the lead for good in the FVC win. Matt Sutherland scored two runs and Andrew Splitt had a double and an RBI for C-G.

Riley Alvarado was 1 for 2 with an RBI for the Chargers and Zach Girard added an RBI. 

Hampshire 5, Crystal Lake Central 3: At Crystal Lake, the Whip-Purs scored five runs in the first three innings then held on to win in FVC play. Dillon Kuhn was 1 for 2 with two RBIs and Michael Kruse was 2 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI. 

Kyle Lavand had an RBI and Matt Tegtmeier had three hits for the Tigers. 

Rockford Christian 7, Harvard 0: At Rockford, the Hornets lost in BNC East Division play. Harvard was held to just two hits in the game. Tate Miller had a double and Reiss Bielski added a hit. 

Woodstock 4, Woodstock North 1: At Woodstock, Alex Ferguson was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Blue Streaks to victory in FVC play. Ferguson also got the win on the mound going seven inning allowing just one run and one hit, while striking out 14. 

Jacob Goldberg had the lone hit for the Thunder and Jamie Huntley scored a run. 

BOYS TENNIS

McHenry 7, Woodstock North 0: At Woodstock, the Warriors (4-8) won in FVC crossover play. Nick Higgin and Jacob Maher won at No. 1 doubles, 6-0, 6-1 and Colon Condon added a win at No. 1 singles. 

Grayslake North 4, Crystal Lake Central 3: At Grayslake, the Tigers (6-4, 3-1 FVC Fox) swept the singles matches at the FVC Fox duel. Josh Pudlo won at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1, and Brad Graves added a victory at No. 2 singles. 

Crystal Lake South 5, Dundee-Crown 2: At Crystal Lake, the Gators (9-2, 8-2 FVC Valley) won in FVC Valley Division play. Nick Thome won, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and Alex Sardiev added a victory at No. 3 singles.

Brad Spangenberg and Chad Wagner won at No. 1 doubles for the Chargers, 6-3, 6-4. 

Jacobs 5, Huntley 2: At Huntley, Kailash Panchapakesan won at No. 1 singles for the Golden Eagles (5-1 FVC Valley) in an FVC Valley Division win. 

Connor Smith and Josh Simons won a three-setter at No. 2 doubles for the Red Raiders (1-2).

Grayslake Central 6, Hampshire 1: Elisha Hougland won at No. 1 singles for the Whip-Purs in an FVC Fox Division loss. 

LACROSSE

Huntley 10, Palatine 1: At Huntley, Robert Koson scored four goals to lead the Red Raiders to victory. Ryan Andre scored three goals and Tyler Ross made six saves for Huntley.
