McHENRY – Chain O’ Lakes Brewing Co. plans to open a beer garden with outside seating, live entertainment and a mobile food truck in June.

Chain O’ Lakes Brewing Co. owner Curt Ames got permission from the McHenry City Council this week to set up tables south of his existing building, 3425 Pearl St., with umbrella structures and lighting to create a beer garden with an area for live entertainment. A rear portion of the lot could be used for mobile food or beer trucks to park during larger events.

The City Council granted Ames a temporary-use permit running through Oct. 31 for the beer garden.

Ames said the beer garden will be unveiled at a special event June 7, marking the day the former McHenry Brewing Co., which occupied the same building, closed its doors in 1942.
