To the Editor:
Here is my budget for our government, short but not sweet.
First, banish forever and a day the baseline budget from the U.S. government.
Second, everybody and everything that gets money from the U.S. government will get a 10 percent cut. Yes, that means everybody and everything. Keep the same budget until the budget is balanced and the debt paid.
Third, no tax increases. Excess taxes go to paying the $17 trillion debt – no deviations and no exemptions. The only changes possible are with a two-thirds vote by American voters. That means the American people. My wife and I are both retired and we both are living below our means. If we want to spend more money, we both have to agree with it. So, simply, we do without. That is how we live in our little world. It is not heaven, but we sleep at night.
My daughter has an 18-year-old son who needs 24 hours attention. Her husband was laid off. Fortunately, he started a new job with a 20 percent pay cut and twice the time to drive to work. They have to do without. Millions of Americans are doing without. Why not the government?
Is it politically correct, or constitutionally incorrect? Or just another tool to punish people without a trail?
These are questions for all the American people to seriously think about.
