BARRINGTON – A 19-year-old Fox River Grove man died Tuesday from blunt force trauma to the chest in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash at Hart Road and Route 14, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Joseph Masino crashed at the intersection at 1:38 p.m., Barrington police said.

There was no train involvement and Masino was going west on Route 14 at the time of the crash, according to Barrington Police Chief David Dorn.

Dorn would not comment on whether Masino was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Barrington police said Masino was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge with serious injuries. He died at 3:36 p.m., according to police.

The crash is being investigated by the Barrington Police Department's Major Crash Investigation Team and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday morning by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The Barrington 220 School District announced Wednesday that Masino had graduated from Barrington High School in 2013, having previously attended Countryside and Station Schools in Barrington.

A fund to help Masino's family cover funeral expenses has been established at Northern Trust, 770 West Northwest Highway, Barrington.

Proceeds from food orders on Friday at Kookers and Jimano's restaurants, in Fox River Grove, and Cooper's, in Barrington, will be donated to the fund. Wool Street Grill of Barrington will donate proceeds from food orders on Saturday.
