To the Editor:
It has been a while since the last referendum in School District 300.
With this latest teacher-student sex scandal, I fully expect the Illinois Education Association spin-masters to morph this thing into a cry for higher taxes.
Local voters are extremely gullible when it comes to the education industry pleading for more money for the children. Some of us are fully aware that translates into raises, but the mastermind propagandists at the district will claim it is to better fund higher quality staff, maybe we’re not paying enough for sufficient background checks.
It is a well known fact District 300 employees are being paid at or near poverty level and have been since public education was invented. Maybe they’ll claim this criminal activity is to be expected since teachers aren’t even being paid a living wage, you know.
They will undoubtedly dream up some scenario whereby more money (higher taxes) will ultimately solve this pervasive dilemma forever, or at least until next time they want raises.
