ALGONQUIN – A Belvidere woman was charged with identity theft after she used an Algonquin resident's social security number to obtain employment, the McHenry County Sheriff's office announced Friday.

Marisol Sanchez-Herrera, 33, was charged Wednesday with one county of identity theft, a Class 2 felony. She remains in the McHenry County Jail on $50,000 bond.

Sheriff investigators retrieved records that led them to Sanchez-Herrera after they were approached by an unincorporated Algonquin resident, who said someone was using their social security number to gain employment in the county, police said.

Sanchez-Herrera is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
