Benghazi hypocrisy

To the Editor:

I saw a pickup truck recently at the McHenry Jewel with this on the rear window: “What about Benghazi? Where were you Obama? Murderer.”

Perhaps the owner should read more and not display such ignorance of facts.

First, the GOP-led House reduced the administration request for State Department security by $330 million for fiscal 2010, a year before the attacks. It later was reduced in the Senate by $270 million.

They followed up with reductions in State Department security budget requests in 2011 and 2012, all the while pointing the finger at President Obama and hyperventilating in their rage over lack of security. Hypocritical?

In fact, Congress has cut every requested security budget, through the Bush and Obama administrations, since 2007. It is disingenuous for Congress to blame President Obama when it is a significant part of the problem.

Furthermore, the disputed request for more security personnel, which never has been demonstrated to have been seen by the White House, would have increased the force to 17 men, still hardly an adequate force to repel 100 terrorists armed with heavy machine guns and rocket launchers.

As for murder, what about the 116,000 civilian (most conservative estimate) and 4,489 American dead in Iraq in an unjust war started under false pretenses? If President Obama is guilty of murder for four Americans dead in Benghazi, then President George Bush and his cronies are guilty of mass murder.

This information is all public record. Look it up before you decorate your vehicle with falsehoods.
