RICHMOND – Improvements to a railroad crossing will close Route 173 west of Richmond to through traffic for about a week.

The road between Greenwood Road and Keystone Road will close starting at 9 a.m. June 2 and is scheduled to reopen at noon June 7.

The crossing has become rough and is in need of replacement, according to a McHenry County news release. The project includes the complete reconstruction of the crossing and pavement.

A posted detour route will direct drivers along Greenwood and Keystone roads to Tryon Grove Road.
