Prep Roundup: R-B baseball beats McHenry

The Richmond-Burton baseball team beat McHenry 8-4 in nonconference play in a game completed from the May 12 game at Petersen Park in McHenry.

Mike Kaska (8-1) pitched in both the suspended game and Tuesday night for the Rockets (17-10). Kaska pitched seven innings, allowing three earned runs, seven hits, while striking out five. He was also 3 for 3 at the plate with a double and an RBI.

Trevor Anderson and Drake Talles each added a double and an RBI. 

Ryan Grannemann had two RBIs and Robert Nagel added a double and an RBI for the Warriors (18-11).

Kaneland 6, Cary-Grove 4: At Cary, Dean Christakes hit a home run and drove in two runs as the Trojans (18-13) fell in nonconference play. Jimmy Perkins was 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI and George Hartke added two hits and an RBI. 

SOFTBALL

Prairie Ridge 13, Johnsburg 3: At Johnsburg, the Wolves (19-7) won in FVC crossover play. Kate Didier was 3 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs and Emily Doomis added a home run and two RBIs. Alyssa Doomis was 3 for 3 with a double and a triple, and Hailey Baker (16-6) got the win. 

Aurora Central Catholic 6, Marian Central 5: At Woodstock, the Hurricanes (17-11, 11-5) lost in SCC play. Jackie Chmiel was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs and Mic Faunce added two doubles and an RBI. 

Jacobs 12, Crystal Lake Central 4: At Crystal Lake, the Golden Eagles (14-11) won in FVC crossover play. Teaghan Richman was 2 for 4 with a home run and two runs and Payton Spirling added a double and two runs for Jacobs.

Savanah Frank was 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs for the Tigers (14-11). 

Cary-Grove 22, Woodstock 0: At Woodstock, Jamie Deering was 5 for 5 with five runs scored, two doubles and four RBIs to lead the Trojans (15-12) to the FVC crossover win. Brianne Prank and Sarah Kendeigh both added home runs for C-G. 

Samantha Baker and Amy Fischbach each had a hit for the Blue Streaks (5-23). 

Crystal Lake South 8, Woodstock North 0: At Woodstock, Hailee Massie threw a complete-game shutout two-hitter to lead the Gators (15-11) to the FVC crossover win. Brookelynn Maddox was 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs and Jenica Terry was 3 for 3 with two doubles and two RBIs.

Paige Schnulle was 1 for 2 for the Thunder (5-20). 

Grayslake North 2, Hampshire 0: At Grayslake, the Whip-Purs (17-12, 10-2 FVC Fox) lost in FVC Fox Division play. Haley Widmayer pitched six innings allowing two unearned runs, four hits, while striking out six in the loss. Sara Finn and Becca Hurst each had a hit for Hampshire.
