In Jan. 2014, AT&T expressed interest in building a 140-foot cell phone tower at the Norge Ski Jump in Fox River Grove.

The company asked for a special use permit, and during an emotional March 20 meeting, the Fox River Grove Village Board voted against the proposed 120-foot cell tower.

On May 1, the board gave AT&T the go-ahead to construct a 107-foot cellphone pole that with have a "monopine" design. It will be built to look like a pine tree.
