Prep Roundup: Jacobs tops D-C on Vandewalker's HR in 11th

Danny Vandewalker hit a two-run home run in the top of the 11th inning Thursday in Carpentersville to lead Jacobs to a 4-2 Fox Valley Conference Valley Division victory over Dundee-Crown in the resumption of a suspended game.

The teams were tied at 2 in the ninth Tuesday when play was suspended because of rain and lightning. Reilly Peltier got the win, pitching all three innings Thursday, allowing two hits and striking out six. 

Vandewalker's home run gave the Golden Eagles (22-12 overall, 14-5 FVC Valley) their first lead of the game. Matt Kozlak added a home run and three runs scored. Jeff Sidor was 2 for 4 with a double.

Riley Alvarado was 3 for 5 with an RBI and a double, and Zach Girard added two hits for the Chargers (12-18, 8-10).

Richmond-Burton 13, Round Lake 3 (6 inn.): At Round Lake, the Rockets (18-10) combined for seven doubles in the nonconference win. Kellen Leschke (5-2) pitched six innings, allowing three runs, six hits and struck out three to earn the win. 

Marengo 6, Sycamore 5: At Marengo, Max Kunde robbed Sycamore of a game-tying home run for the last out of the game in the Indians' nonconference win. Noah Klick had a double and an RBI and Mike Villarreal added two RBIs for Marengo (10-13). 

SOFTBALL

Huntley 11, Woodstock 0 (5 inn.): At Huntley, Kateri Conklin pitched a five-inning no hitter to lead the Red Raiders (18-14) to an FVC crossover win. It was Conklin's first no-hitter. Taylor Stone was 4 for 4 with a double and an RBI, and Conklin added a double and two RBIs. 

Prairie Ridge 4, CL Central 0: At Crystal Lake, Hailey Baker pitched a complete-game shutout to lead the Wolves (20-7) to an FVC crossover win. Baker allowed three hits, struck out eight and walked one. Maddie Drain was 2 for 3 with a home run for Prairie Ridge.

Maddie Helm was 2 for 3 for the Tigers (15-12). 

Cary-Grove 11, Grayslake Central 1 (6 inn.): Brianne Prank hit a home run and drove in three runs to lead the Trojans (17-12) to an FVC crossover win. Caitlyn Adams was 3 for 4 with three runs scored and two doubles for C-G. 

CL South 7, Grayslake North 2: At Crystal Lake, Sam McLean was 4 for 4 with a double, a triple and three RBIs to lead the Gators (17-11) to an FVC crossover win. Taylor Kassel was 3 for 4 with an RBI and Caitlin Fater added two RBIs. 

Dundee-Crown 7, Woodstock North 0: At Carpentersville, the Chargers (5-15) won in FVC crossover play. Megan Emerson was 3 for 4, and Rachel Chlopek was 3 for 3 for D-C. 

Kristin Brenner and Kellie Smith each had a hit for the Thunder (5-23). 

McHenry 12, Johnsburg 1 (6 inn.): At McHenry, the Warriors (23-6) won in FVC crossover play. Alex Martens was 1 for 3 with a double and two RBIs for McHenry, and Katelyn Sena added a run and an RBI.
