CARY – Wisconsin officials identified Allison Spahr as the 11-year-old Cary girl who died Sunday morning after a tree limb fell on her family's tent at Devil’s Lake State Park in south central Wisconsin.

Allison's 13-year-old brother, Kyle, and 51-year-old father Kevin were also injured in the incident, said a spokesperson from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, which is investigating the incident.

Allison Spahr was pronounced dead at the scene.

The injuries occurred when a large tree fell during a thunderstorm Sunday morning, hitting another tree. A number of branches fell on the family’s tent.

Only the Spahr's tent was hit, a Devil's Lake official said Sunday.. There were 355 campsites occupied that night. Officials from the popular Wisconsin state park said that the type of accident is rare.

The campsite remained open following the accident.

A statement released by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources emphasized visitor safety as a priority, adding that campgrounds are inspected regularly and potential hazards are eliminated whenever possible.
