Members of the Huntley Fire Protection District raised more than $7,000 during a recent "fill-the-boot" campaign.

About 40 firefighters on Thursday and Saturday were stationed at the intersections of Route 47 and Main Street in Huntley and Algonquin and Lakewood roads in Lake in the Hills, collecting donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, said firefighter David Floyel, one of the campaign organizers.

This year, firefighters raised $7,070.67, said Floyel, who helped organized the event with firefighter Andrew Schultz.

Contributions were made by motorists who were waiting at red lights at the intersections.

Last year, firefighters from Huntley raised $2,500. The year before they raised $4,000.
