Johnsburg man flown to hospital after falling off ladder

JOHNSBURG – A 53-year-old Johnsburg man was taken by Flight for Life to a Libertyville hospital after he fell about 20 feet off a ladder, a fire official said.

The McHenry Township Fire Protection District responded at 12:54 p.m. Tuesday to the 5200 block of Heather Lane in Johnsburg to reports of a man who had fallen off a ladder at his home, Battalion Chief Dave Harwood said.

The man was conscious and alert, but paramedics decided to have him transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville via Flight for Life, which picked him up from the fire station in Johnsburg, Harwood said.

The man was in stable condition at the time, and his injuries were not life threatening, Harwood said.

"He told us the base of ladder kicked out from underneath him, and he fell about 20 feet on to the driveway," Harwood said, adding that it was "completely an accident."
