Quincy company could get incentives to stay open

QUINCY — Efforts are underway in western Illinois to convince a company not to close its location in Quincy.

The Quincy Herald-Whig reports that state and local officials want to develop an incentive package for Quincy Compressor. The company said last week that it is considering closing its Quincy plant and consolidating operations in Alabama. Quincy Compressor employs more than 150 people in Quincy.

Mayor Kyle Moore says keeping the company in the area is his administration's "top priority."

Officials didn't release details but said they're putting together a package of both state and local incentive options.
