Sheriff's office installs permanent medication drop box
WOODSTOCK – McHenry County residents now can safely dispose their unused medications at any time into a drop box near the McHenry County Jail, the Sheriff's office announced Tuesday.
Officials permanently installed a green, steel medication drop box in the corrections lobby of the jail along Ware Road in Woodstock. Residents can throw their unused medications into the box 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
Undersheriff Andrew Zinke said in a news release the drop box would help address drug addiction by having residents dispose of unwanted and unused prescriptions.
Collected medications will be permanently disposed. No liquids or needles can be collected in the bin.
