Woodstock’s boys and girls basketball teams will participate in the fifth annual Bob Brown Memorial Shootout on Friday at Grayslake Central. The tournament is held in honor of Brown, a longtime official who worked as assignment chairman for the North Suburban and Fox Valley conferences.

The shootout is coordinated by the Northern Officials Association, of which Brown was a founding member. He died two years ago.

Grayslake Central, Grayslake North, Antioch, Union Grove (Wisconsin) and Woodstock are the competing teams. Girls games will start at 3 p.m., while boys games start at 6:15. There will be a ceremony honoring Brown at 5:45 before the national anthem is played and the boys games start.

“We appreciate the participation and support of all the teams, players, coaches and families,” said Mike Babicz, the NOA Bob Brown Shootout coordinator. “We especially thank the administration and athletic department of Grayslake Central for working with us this year. This is a great way to continue Bob’s legacy.”
