McHENRY – A 46-year-old man was in serious condition after his motorcycle was involved in an accident with a car Tuesday evening, a fire official said.

The McHenry Township Fire Protection District responded at 6:27 p.m. to Ringwood Road and Orchard Way Drive in unincorporated McHenry for a motorcycle-vehicle accident, Battalion Chief Dave Harwood said.

The man on the motorcycle was in serious condition but conscious and alert, Harwood said. The person in the car was uninjured.

Due to the motorcyclist's injuries, paramedics requested a Flight for Life transport but it was unavailable, Harwood said. A REACT helicopter was requested, but because it would take 25 minutes for the helicopter to arrive, the fire district took the man to Centegra Hospital – McHenry.

He was later taken to another hospital after Centegra initiated care, Harwood said. He did not know which hospital the man had been taken to.

The accident is being investigated by McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

Harwood did not have details on the circumstances of the accident, and the McHenry County Sheriff's Office did not a respond to a request for information Tuesday evening.
